Is There Tile Under Kitchen Cabinets. While this is a common way to do it, there are some disadvantages that are inherent to this type of cabinet and tile installation. You could use plywood to raise the level of the cabinets to the level of the floor.
If the kitchen has tile, look at the grout lines. Usually mass-produced, thermofoil cabinets only come in solid colors and are imitation. By using tile across the whole floor including under the vanity makes for a clean and smooth install.
The short answer is, always install around.
It's much easier to install the tile before the cabinets so we don't have to make a bunch of cuts around the cabinet bases, and we don't have to put quarter round down to hide the cut.
Thermofoil kitchen cabinets are molded out of medium-density fiberboard (MDF). The price difference for us between doing under the cabinets and not was negligible; couple hundred dollars. If your tile is very expensive, you wouldn't have to actually tile under the cabinets.
